Dear Scott
Welcome to our Highland Praise Newsletter. Our desire is to keep you informed and involved in this outreach. The best way to do so is to let you in on what is going on out in the field and behind the scenes...
If you received you our January newsletter in the mail your will recognize most of the first couple of sections (some revisions made). You can use the links under the heading "In This Issue" to the left of this message... they will take you directly to the article you wish to see.
Sorry it's so long... shorter and more frequent in the future...

You Want us to Go Where?
where it begins
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.
Isaiah 61:4 (NKJV)
As many of you know, Patti & I have had a heart for the people of Scotland for quite sometime. Although we both have family heritage in Scotland, and were both raised up in the Presbyterian Church. (whose roots are The Church of Scotland), there had never been any real draw to the land or it's people.
About 20 years ago He spoke to my heart about going there to serve. He has been working His vision for this people in us over the years...
Well the time has come, and we are looking to move to Dunfermline in the late Spring.

Go... Wait... Go... Father Knows best...
GO ...
Five years ago we felt led to go to Scotland and see the country, meet the people, and discover what this desire the Lord had placed upon ours hearts was all about.
We connected with a small Calvary Chapel in Dunfermline which is north of Edinburgh.
We stayed with the Pastor and his wife, Ken & Evie Scott. As we shared our hearts and visions over those few days together, our hearts were knit together in our desires to bring the gospel back to so many of the people of Scotland, and to rekindle the fire of passion for Jesus and God's Word.
They asked us to consider coming alongside them and perhaps later start a work further north in the country. We spent the rest of our site seeing vacation praying that the Lord would confirm this call to serve him and these people.
2 Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Hab 2:2-3 (NKJV)
WAIT ...
When we returned to the states it looked like a "Go". We figured that in just over a year we would be on our way, and we began to make plans to that end.
The Lord however had other plans... waiting... maturing... growing....
Perhaps it is like this quote that was given to Patti...
"I hope you'll hear it all the way down to your toes.. When you wait you're not doing nothing... you're doing the most important something there is. You're allowing your soul to grow up. If you can't be still and wait you can't become what God created you to be." -Sue Monk Kidd (this was given to Patti a year before our first departure date.)
When Jesus was preparing to go ascend to Heaven He commanded His disciples to Go into all the world and preach the Gospel... BUT... He told them first they must WAIT... ( for the filling of the Holy Spirit.)
God is so faithful; He puts these inclinations in our hearts and then tests us to see if we are attuned with His heart in these matters. This has been a season of wait, pray, serve and grow... which leads us to...
GO ...
This last year we felt led to get things moving again. So... This past summer we spent about a month With Ken and Evie to see... if indeed the Lord was opening that door... Can we work together in ministry?... Can we Cohabitate? We did all of these things and more... We also asked the Lord to show through His Word. He did.
it was in this process that the Lord gave us Hab. 2:2,3 Now this has been difficult to understand, first He says "go" then "wait"! What is that all about?

To Do What? Why are we going?
First and foremost , the reason to go is that we believe this is where we are being lead to go... This call has been confirmed to us by our Pastors, friends, the fellowship in Scotland, and through Scripture...
We have a heart for people, the origin of which has no foundation other than God's leading.
Patti and I both have our roots in the Presbyterian Church, which stems from the Church of Scotland. Though we grew up in the church we never understood the need of having a personal relationship with Jesus, the Truth of the Gospel, and the importance of the Bible in our daily lives.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (KJV)
Once we came to have a personal relationship with Jesus, we realized that there are many others who go to church every week believing that they are just fine living their religious lives just as we had. But Jesus calls us to die to ourselves and allow Him to be Lord of our lives.
We both have a burden for the "Second Generation" Christians. These are children who's parents get saved and raise their
children in the Church. Many of these children never come to have a personal relationship, or saving knowledge, of Christ in their lives. They grow up with head knowledge and a false security.
These children often walk away from the Church and raise their children up without Jesus at all or maybe a prayer before a meal or bed. Their Bibles are lost or collecting dust somewhere.
This brings us to the people of Scotland. The numbers vary but between 2% and 8% of the people have a walk with Christ. Most of the youth resent the organized Church. Many have not heard the Gospel, Drug use is rampant, suicide is the #1 cause of death for women under 50, #2 amongst men. Without Christ they have no Hope and no purpose in life.
Our desire is to reach out to the community, love the people, and give opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We would like to reach out to the local children through after-school homework programs and "Kids Club" evangelical outreach. Also, unlike our schools in the states, we may be able to teach the Bible in the schools as well.
We have also made connection with an outreach in Glasgow that is using music to evangelize the local youth. They are giving guitar lessons to youth in the community and sharing the Gospel. They are also raising up Worship leaders from those in their local Fellowship. We will be meeting with them to see how we can join with them to expand this ministry outreach.
We would love to reach out to the Church of Scotland to teach Bible studies during the week, or possibly The Truth Project. Our desire is to work with the local body of Christ, not in opposition to those faithfully sharing the Good News of Salvation through Christ Jesus.
As you probably know, Scotland has a very rich Christian heritage and has sent many missionaries throughout the world. Many have given their lives for the Gospel at home and across the globe. Today, as a country, this heritage is history. Though there is a remnant, for the most part Scotland has become a post-modern society and has no place for the Gospel, or the God of the Bible. Please pray that we can be used to help make a difference.
Isaiah 58:12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. (NKJV)
Isaiah 61:4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. (NKJV)

| So where do we stand?
What is going on to date?
Well there is much preparation required. We need to sort through our belongings to decide what is to go, what to sell, what to toss, what to store, acquire a shipping container, and move out of our home. We have a home to rent out, and vehicles to sell.
We are building a core group of people to be in prayer for this outreach, for Patti and I, and for the people of Scotland
We are in the process of establishing a donor base for monthly provision. Our home fellowship, Crossroads Church, will be participating in our monthly financial needs but the majority of our financial base will come from those who feel lead to participate financially in this outreach.
(Please see the financial section of this letter only if you feel lead to do so. The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of this outreach and how the Lord is leading us, not to simply ask for funds)
Our desire is to share the vision of this outreach with as many fellowships as possible. We have a few churches who want us to share with their fellowships... if you wish for us to do so at your fellowship, home study, or just a group with a heart for missions, please let us know.
The Fellowship in Dunfermline have been praying us over there for five years... but now we have events scheduled for our participation... There is Dunfermline's Gala in June where we are to have a carnival type booth for the children, a Pastor's retreat in June, a women's retreat in September, and other duties that are part of the weekly fellowship.
So with that before us, you can imagine there would be opposition...
Well for her birthday, Patti had knee surgery and three days later Scott had surgery to have a cyst removed. That has slowed things up a bit... but wait... two weeks later Patti is feeling like she has a Mack truck parked on her chest and after five days decides she really should see a doctor... Her doctor tells her to drive over to the hospital immediately and go to the ER. She is afraid Patti might have a blood clot... Nope... she is full of them... three large clots that they were concerned about. one in her lung and two in her leg. So an over night stay in the hospital, numerous shots and drugs, blood thinners, etc., and Patti is wiped out and in pain. Plus she has been doing her physical therapy for her knee... ouch.
Needless to say, this has been a very trying month or so... but God has been Faithful, the doctors have been great, the body of Christ has been wonderful to pray, and pray, and bring meals, and flowers, and encouragement. (Thank you all).
Prayerfully we are somewhat back on track though much time has passed, and Patti is a month or so from being back to normal with the exception of her ongoing physical therapy on her knee.
We are praying that support will come in such a fashion that I can quit my job here early and focus on preparation to leave and readying the house for rent.

Donations Ways to support financially
This honestly is the most difficult part of this newsletter to write... for two reasons...
One... People get a lot of letters asking for money and these times are not easy... Two... Why would anyone want to give their hard earned money to send us across the ocean to play with kids, talk to people who have no desire to hear about God, in a land that (as we have been told) had it's chance?
The second one first... first off... get over yourself Scott... It's the Lord's money and He will lead those who are to give and how much . He provides the increase to the giver and the recipient. and as far as the rest...
Romans 10:13-15 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"
Number One... Again... this newsletter is not a request for funds. If you choose to give we assume you feel lead to do so because of the Lord's leading, not my pleading...
So... if you wish to donate funds this is how it works. We are under the Ministry of "GO Ministries". They are our sending organization. GO is an outreach Missions organization of Calvary Chapel in Norco CA.
All funds donated to us, come to us. GO provides their services free of charge to missionaries. (what a blessing they are too) (I have provided a link to their website for you to check out)

Well, Patti and I thank you for reading through this letter. I Realize this letter is very long... with this being our first e-mail letter we had much to explain. We truly pray that you will make this outreach, and Patti and I personally, a regular part of your prayers to the Lord. We look forward to bringing you updates, and God the Glory for all He is doing in and through this outreach.
May God richly bless you,
Scott & Patti Worth
